Scotty Lago wins Olympic Bronze

Seabrook’s Scotty Lago won gold medal in halfpipe snowboarding competition at Vancouver 2010 winter Olympics.

If pride were considered to be the Olympic gold, snowboarder Scotty Lago already would have had a medal of the size of Texas hanging around his neck, if Lago’s hometown Seabrook had something to say about it.

Scotty already has made his hometown proud by winning the world quarter pipe championship and captivating a bronze medal in the 2010 Olympics. With all these achievements against his name, the snowboarder is a popular person in Seabrook.

The people of Seabrook have been offering respect to their snowboard champion by placing his pictures all over the Seabrook, and according to Shelly Carter, the owner of the Common Isle Cafe which is hosting a party in his honor, “Entire Seabrook is proud of him” She further adds “You know how we are in Seabrook. We support our people.”

Executive secretary to town Manager Barry Brenner said, “Scotty’s grandfather Mike Lago was a town milkman, and later, he developed the Lago Ice Cream stands, akin to the one in Rye. Scotty Lago’s dad is also named Mike.”

The town even is planning for a Scotty Lago parade in honor of the local Olympian when he gets back to town.
