Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bulls have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to trade guard John Salmons to Milwaukee.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls will receive either Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexander or Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson.

Warrick was held out of Milwaukee's game on Wednesday in anticipation of a trade, as was Salmons for Chicago.

Dealing Salmons to the Bucks will give the Bulls enough salary cap space this summer to offer a maximum contract to a premier free agent.

Salmons, who came over from the Kings last season in a midseason trade, has averaged 12.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 51 games for Chicago this season.
